The staff at Garza Blanca PV attempted to get/take our credit cards several times. The timeshare scam game is in full swing there. The restaurant claimed we couldn't pay 50 pesos for an Americano in cash and wanted to take our credit cards to the bar (100' from the table). We told him to bring the machine over. After the transaction completed and printed out the receipt, the waiter returned to ask for the explanation date and 3 digit security numbers on the back. I told him the transaction was completed. He insisted so I told him he's not getting in under any circumstances. He had a conversation with another employee (manager?) and looked like he was heading back to us for more. I shook my head and stood up. He didn't like that and abandoned his attempt. On several occasions we were asked for ID and to sign varios forms at the timeshare scam meetings. They are attempting to get an authorization to run a credit check on you. I declined any attempts to copy any info. My signature wouldn't match any attempts to verify. We laughed at the prices ($119,000 for your 50 yr contract, plus $2500/yr maintenance fee, plus $50 per night, plus flights!) they had never heard of 'the time value of money' calculation and seemed to have no concept of the term. Also the 50 yr contract survives death. Your estate or children would be responsible for the continuation of the contract! We've been home 2 days. My bank has just warned me of suspicious activity at Garza Blanca (several charges under $1 since we've returned.) I suspect they've copied our credit card info. We've cancelled the card and will get it replaced tomorrow. Bottom line is this: Garza Blanca is a complete scam. We went to the scamshare meeting for entertainment and I thought we were being cautious but... one 50 pesos coffee is all they needed.
