I just found a charge of $89.99 on my charge card, with a description as a :"CPN*The New Yorker. I called my credit card company. Aside from his having almost unintelligible English, I managed to grasp that the people who could answer this have all gone home. "but it will all be fixed." I plan to call the number found online--800-825-2510. But what on earth is this about? Nearly $90 of my money has disappeared and so far so one can explain why. What is going on here? What does The New Yorker have to do with it? I have not subscribed to any magazine. i hate having to go through what I know i will--no truthful answers, no intelligible answers, no action, just another rip off. Grrr!
absolutely not--I have no idea where this charge is coming from, nor for what service or product. Since I have not ordered/purchased anything such thing with this card. I can only assume it's yet another scam that I will have to run down dozens of rabbit holes searching for will probably be, in the end, a scam that has no solution to.
It's for a subscription to The New Yorker Magazine.
It is for New Yorker Magazine. Call 1-800-825-2510 and they will reverse the charge. Its funny how quickly they do it and try to hang up ASAP without any other questions asked. Tells me that they know its fishy...
$99.99 charged 10-27-16. Contacted credit services. Shut down card immediately after reversing charge.
I was charged an unauthorized $99 on 4/20/17, called customer service and spoke to representative for all of 5 seconds. They are extremely fast to remove it, no questions, arguments, nothing. Call 1-800-825-2510
It's an automatic renewal of a free trial offer .. I had to be on hold for about 10 minutes, but they quickly reversed the charge.
First paid them $5 for The New Yorker subscription. Signed into New Yorker Customer Service website to disable auto-renewal. Three months later I am charged a whopping $99 dollars for a re-renewal. 03/24/17 HMD* The New Yorker 5.00 06/22/17 CNP*THE NEW YORKER 99.99
First call person was polite and said they would cancel and informed me that I had account since 2016. I had never received a magazine! Second, time I called very rude person told me maybe your card has been hacked. Still, have not seen any refund. I am very upset with this company.
Yes, I have been fraudulently billed in 2018 and 2019 by CNP*THE NEW YORKER 800-825-2510 NY. I called the 800 number on 12/13/19 and Mercedes said it would take a day, and they would cancel the charge of a Dec 13 email for New Yorker. I never agreed to New Yorker, after a 10 week trial, but was then billed on my Visa for 2 years. This has been happening to people for years, what we need is a class action suit. I never caught o the first year, since I didn't see the charge, but saw when I sent back that I want subscription cancelled, and instead of cancelling it, they simply billed me for another year. I'll call Visa tomorrow instead of the CNP*THE NEW YORKER 800-825-2510 NY number. Joe A
Called the 800 number listed. Very easy, they said they would issue a refund. One week goes by, no money. I had to call again and the woman said they hadn’t don’t the refund so she had to do it again.
My God! This has been going on for a long time based on comments since 2016! I received $6 charge on my credit card from CNP*THE NEW YORKER 800-825-2510 NY And I don’t have a clue what it is. I reported to my credit card company. These people should go to jail; they’ve been getting off scamming people for a long time!
I called 800-825-2510 and was told that the charge was for an automatic renewal of a trial subscription. It appears to me that they are signing people up for trial subscriptions without their knowledge, and then charging for renewal. The woman that I spoke with promised to cancel the entire charge. I did receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of the call.
I found a charger $107.30 on my Discover Card. I called 1 800 825 2510 to say I never placed an order for The New Yorker. After the rep offered me a 30% discount I said no and ask for the total amount in a refund. I received a confirmation email saying my subscription had been cancel. Now I will wait to see if my credit card is refunded. Will let this website know when I do.
Same as all of the above.
Trial subscription for 3 months and i was charged for the yearly rate about two months later, without any notice. And you 'd think Conde Nast is a trusted organization.. such a disappointment.
Just had a fraud alert on my card for $99.99 for CNP * new York. Thankful my bank blocked the charge and contacted me, I've never done a trial subscription for them so I'm unsure how they got my information
Just received a fraudulent $248.00 CNP@New Yorker charge
Had a $214.99 charge appear on my card under this. Called as was given no explanation as to what exactly this was for. Cancellation was easy and quick, but this seemed like poor form on the part of the New Yorker.
Got $109.99 charge on my account yesterday for CNP*NEW YORKER. Called and she said it's for subscription under my account which has been canceled, even on my account it shows a canceled subscription. Ridiculous. It's true that process was easy and quick by calling the number mentioned above, but still, such a shame that The New Yorker keeps this crappy thing happening for so long.
Never agreed to this fraudulent charge the magazine industry is very desparate
I subscribed to the New Yorker Maginze which was charged to me on Aug 04 2023. It showed "CNP* NEWYORKER - DIGIT HTTPSWWW.COND NY " Then three months later on 28th Oct another charge from "CNP*THE NEW YORKER 800-825-2510 NY " was on my credit card. I checked with the customer service and they insisted they only charged me once on Aug 2023. Then I guess my card information was leaked from my subscription.
i was charged quite a lot of money. why?
Unknown Charge of $179.99 found on my visa credit card by CNP*The New Yorker 800-825-2510NY
CNP*New Yorker Digital charge NZ$79.77
This is on my detailed information for charges on my credit card bill. I DID NOT make this purchase. I suspect this is fraudulent, based on what I find here--it's a fraudulent charge that has been going on for more than a decade!!
February 2, 2024 my bank account was charged $169.99 CNP * The New Yorker for a purchase I did not make. This was a fraudulent charge. Is there any recourse in getting money returned into banking account?
