I caught a small test amount of $2.97 (luckily) when I was looking at my account online for other reasons. I Googled it and found this website and marked it as "suspicious". My Credit Union succeeded in putting a stop on a significantly larger charge to the same account. I live in the Midwest and was traveling in New York at the time - the opposite side of the continent from Monterey Park, CA. I suspect that there was some intermediate marketer of stolen credit card numbers testing it out before selling the number to somebody attempting to use it to buy food or cigarettes or whatever.
My card was charged yesterday from Ralphs's 0095 Monterey, CA. Luckily, I signed up to received texted alerts for card transactions. I was alerted that a payment in the amount of $56.27 was deducted from my card and called my bank immediately. The card has been reported stolen.
The card user made the transaction via credit and signed.
