I believe they are the payment method for vending machines (including the one at 74 Wellington West 14th floor in Toronto).
This was for driving range balls at the UBC golf course in Vancouver.
Was not sure of the charge on credit card. They have a vending machine for golf balls at the driving range. I am in Calgary.

Charge for Key Cutting machine at Wal-Mart in Vancouver. One key cut but charged $4.47, then erroneously charged $4.47, then charged credited $8.47 then charged $8,47. Bottom line is I paid $8.94 for one key. I think I'll go to Home Hardware next time and have a real person help me :)

This charge worried me till I saw one of the comments about a key duplicating machine. That’s what it was for me and it was at Walmart in Bowmanville Ontario.
I just figured out this charge on my November statement after I made a number of calls to different merchants in Calgary. It was for a Self-Serve Key Cutting Vending Machine at Walmart Bow Trail SW store. I just wish they make it more specific than Soda-Snack Vending Toronto, ON.

Charge was for minute key. And the service is excellent. One of the few times I didn’t have to take keys back for retooling.
I was suspicious the first time I saw it but after reading the blogs, I remember that I have duplicated my keys at MinuteKey Walmart East hills with the amount matching the email receipt I have. Its legit. No worries.

I used my credit card to buy a snack out of a vending machine in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. I had to tap my card several time before I received anything and I was billed $10 for every tap even if nothing came out. When I finally received my $3.50 item I was billed $10.
I was charged $10.00 twice, and $2.25 when I purchased a Pepsi at the hospital I work. I will be disputing the two $10.00 charges.

on aug 10, 2024, at the esquimalt rec centre, the card reader on the vending machine seemed to charge me 3.50 for an orange juice. but no juice. the staff said that sometimes happened. they gave me that amount in coins, saying that cash always worked. it did. two evenings later i saw a 10$ charge, not 3.50, when i checked my visa credit card online.
