3/30/2021 RDA*COUNTRY BOOKS ($27.86) This appears to be a duplicate Debit Card charge on hold for a charge that cleared my bank account on 3/14/2021. I did not make a second charge to the same place.

The original charge was for a Cast Iron Cook Book, charge cleared the bank on March 14, 2021. Now on April 01, 2021, the charge showed up as pending on hold.

I have a debit on my account for $27.57 8/2/21 and I had one last month too! I call 800-344-2560 and they say that they show no charge to me for anything and I will have to contact my bank. I contact my bank and I will have to go inside and request a new debit card. This is complete B.S and a total scam/fraud. Oh the hell did they get my # to charge my card. I have ordered no magazines or books. They aren't helpful at all and now this is a complete inconvenience to have to proceed with a new debit card request. So freaking %*&!ed.

I was charged for $10.60 by RDA Country Books for a purchase on September 1, 2021. I was away from home and did not have my credit card. I called the company's phone number and they said all lines were busy. I then found this website and called my credit card company and they said they will not pay the charge and will do an investigation. In the meantime they cancelled my credit card and will issue a new one.

I think it may be a taste of home thing if you ever ordered a cookbook through them directly you click a box that you agree to have “sneak peaks” of the new cook books, which means they send the actual cookbook to you and if you keep it then you pay for it. I got mine a couple weeks ago and didn’t know if it was part of this deal and kept it, I guess it must be.

There was a charge on my VISA card today for RDA Country Books,. This is obviously a scam. It is a fraudulent charge' I have had to cancel my credit card because of it. I have never ordered anything from that "so-called" company!

This is also Taste of Home Magazine / Cook Books. I called about a charge with RDA, and customer service said it shouldn't have shown up under Country Books, although, he could handle things under that acct. as well. .... RDA has several branches.

The charge is for a cookbook that I ordered from Taste of Home. It is legitimate. This company covers Taste of Home, Birds and Blooms, Handyman, Readers Digest, and County publications.

This charge comes from Taste of Home books. Mine, in particular, is the Quick Cooking Annual Recipes.

I have a credit card that I haven't used in four months. I received the usual statement today normally with a zero balance. There was only one charge of $38.47 on it that I know I didn't make from RDA Country Books. I don't normally buy books or magazines ever and on the statement was the charge with the 800 number for RDA in its' listing. I called it to see who they were and a mid easterner answered. (RED FLAG!) I asked him to explain what this charge was.and he wanted the last four digits of my card. I didn't give him any info and immediately hung up and called the fraud department of my Visa. The woman I talked was very sharp with regard to scams. It turns out it was a monthly recurring charge and was also charged the previously month of which she also took care of both. I don't know how RDA got my card number but Visa cancelled that card and will send me a new one. When you get your statement be sure to look at each of the charges because they will all look legitimate and will be "snuck" in there. Several years ago, I did inquire to Home Shopping Network about a book but they wanted more to ship it than the book itself so I said no. About one week later they called me back to tell me that the book would have free shipping. (Must have been a poor seller) I said OK AND he asked me if I wanted a special coupon for $1.00 that would give me over $100.00 back in buying stuff. I thought it over, sounded good, got the book but no coupon. Didn't think much about it (forgot about it) but one day I noticed a $38.99 charge on my Visa. I called the number and it turned out the $1.00 coupon I bought put me on a recurring $38.99 monthly charge to "save money" monthly guessing from them! THEY LEFT THAT PART OUT WHEN i PURCHASED THAT $1.00 COUPON. I told them to cancel that immediately and found out they had already been charging me that amount for the last four months. I asked them if I had ever used any of these "services" and they said no. I told them I wasn't told about there would be a recurring charge for this "service" and I wanted a full refund for all of it and they said they could only refund two months because I had waited too long. I then called my bank card immediately AND THEY GOT ME REFUNDED FOR ALL OF IT!! The bottom line here is keep a close watch on all charges on your statement because the scammers know how to trick most people who use their card alot to think it;s legitimate hiding with all the others.

Our credit card was charged $27.54 by RDA*Country Books although we had not placed an order. The phone number listed is 800.344.2560 but when we called there was just a recording by "Book Services". We have determined that RDA = Reader's Digest, although we do not subscribe to it.

When I tried to get this charged back to the company, the bank representative gave me this number to get a refund for the charge - 800-344-2560. I will see in about 3 weeks if I get the refund.

Yes. This is a semi-scam. I bought a $10 book from Reader’s Digest and did not read the disclaimer (after my credit card info had been entered) saying I was authorizing them to keep sending books and keep charging. When they charged me last month, I realized my mistake and immediately cancelled the subscription. Yet, here is another charge this month. The first time was due to a shady practice on their part (cleverly hiding the small print), but I accept responsibility. Continuing to charge me after I cancelled is out-and-out fraud.

I recieved A Year in the Country book- did not order it. I sent it back in July. I have USPS tracking # of it being recieved, but still get a bill and a nasty note about collections. Really- for a $ 40.93 bill. Not done with them yet. If this keeps up, I will cancel the Readers Digest subscription also.
